The seminar moderated by Dr. Muhammad Al Hafizh, S.S, M.A featured the theme ‘Creating an Intellectual Space which is Sexual Violence Safe through Excellent and Dignified Human Resources (HR).’
In her speech, the head of UNP PPKS Task Force, Dr. Fatmariza H., M.Hum., mentioned that this theme was chosen as the commitment of the task force to maintain the integrity and dignity of UNP so that a safe climate can be created in UNP campus life.
In addition, the head of UNP DWP, Prof. Asmar Yulastri, M.Pd, Ph.D., said that this event was very strategic to be held in December when many historical things happened related to women, starting from the commemoration of Mother’s Day, the Elimination of Violence Against Women Day, one year of the UNP PPKS Task Force, and 24 years of UNP DWP.
“This activity is in line with the DWP’s mandate and duties in playing an active role in all campus programs, one of them is PPKS. In its implementation, DWP has launched the DWP Campus Friends by partnering with the UNP PPKS Task Force,” explained the Dean of the UNP Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality (FPP).
Meanwhile, in his opening speech, the Rector of UNP, Prof. Ganefri, Ph.D., expressed his commitment to take decisive action against individuals involved in sexual violence. He hopes that by this seminar, the UNP academic community can be reminded of efforts to prevent sexual violence.
“By saying Bismillahirrohmanirrohim, we officially open the UNP PPKS National Seminar,” said the Rector.
Furthermore, Ratna Susianawati in her presentation revealed that based on the data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), two-thirds of Indonesia’s population are women and children.
“Lets Imagine! the population, of which two-thirds are women and children, is not the focus of the government and the state. How will we welcome a Golden Indonesia in 2045?” She explained. She also added that therefore, the condition is the main pillar that leads to women’s issues in the context of Indonesian development.
In line with what was conveyed by the Rector of UNP, Prof. Yohandri, in his presentation, said that UNP has been fully committed to supporting PPKS. He continued that the seriousness began by establishing the PPKS Task Force in September 2023, issuing the Rectors Regulation Number 19 of 2022 concerning UNP PPKS, and finally declaring DWP Campus Friends.
“These are the proofs of UNP’s commitment to be actively involved in launching PPKS,” He added.
The event was also attended by the Head of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection of West Sumatra, Dra. Hj. Gemala Ranti, M.Si., DWP of Universitas Andalas, DWP of ISI Padang Panjang, DWP of PNP, and UNP leaders and lecturers. (UTR/UNP Public Relations)
