Vorcent UNP Conducts International Collaborative Research With MyRIVET Universiti Tuan Hussein Malaysia

The research team from the Vocational Research Center of Universitas Negeri Padang (Vorcent-UNP) conducted International Collaboration Research with the Malaysia Research Institute for Vocational Education and Training (MyRIVET) and Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia. The research began with a discussion of the implementation of a pilot study in person at Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia on July 9-10, 2024. 

This learning model not only provides opportunities for students to develop their knowledge and skills, but also aims to develop their regional potential that will have an impact on economic development or solving technological problems among their regional communities.

Furthermore, the presentation on Student’s Regional Potential-based Project was delivered by Rahmat Azis Nabawi, as a representative of the other members, Dr. Rizky Ema Wulansari, S.Pd., M.Pd.T. and Dian Safitri, M.Pd. He explained that in this learning model students are not only directed to find problems but train them through a brainstorming process to see opportunities from the potential of their area that has not been optimally developed.

Dr. Tee Tze Kiong, as a representative of MyRIVET UTHM, said that this learning model will later be applied to lectures at UTHM Malaysia and will be reviewed for its impact on the development of the 6Cs (Creativity and Innovation, Critical thinking and problem solving, communication, collaboration, character and citizenship) skills of students and the effectiveness of problem solving and the development of regional potential of each Malaysian student.

 This activity was warmly welcomed by Prof. Jailani Md Yunos as Director of MyRIVET. Members of the research team from Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia who attended included Dr. Mohd Zulfadli Bin Rozali, Prof. Madya Ts. Dr. Badaruddin Bin Ibrahim, Prof. Madya Ts. Dr. Faizal Amin Nur Bin Yunus, and Aprilla Fortuna as Vorcent UNP research assistant.
