MPALH UNP Organized Waterfall Cave Expedition Seminar

Padang – The Environmental and Adventure Activity of Student Activity Unit (MPALH) Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP) held a Waterfall Cave Expedition Seminar on Friday, November 24th 2023 in the Faculty of Engineering Ball Room (RSG), Universitas Negeri Padang.

Based on written information received by UNP Public Relations, Tuesday (28/11/2023), a Speleology Expert, Dr. Hamdi Rivai, M.Si , was invited as speaker in this seminar. Apart from that, this seminar also presented the results of the Waterfall Cave Expedition which was carried out in Nagari Halaban, Limapuluh Kota Regency some time ago.

The team leader of the expedition,  Ami Nurhasanah, presented the outcome of this expedition directly in the form of a cave mapping in two-dimensional digital form as well as showing a documentary video.

On this occasion, Dr. Hamdi also handed over a cave mapping book to MPALH UNP and selected participants. MPALH UNP hopes that the Waterfall Cave Expedition Seminar will be able to revive the science of speleology in West Sumatra because West Sumatra has many caves and been called as the paradise of caves.

This seminar was attended by 126 participants. They were from students, the general public, The Student Association of Environmental and Adventure Activity throughout West Sumatra and UNP.
