Developing Lecturer Career, UNP Encourages Young Lecturers To Continue Doctoral Education

Padang – In order to strengthen the commitment to improve the competence of Human Resources (HR), Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP) held a Career Competency Development event for Lecturers at Universitas Negeri Padang Auditorium, Wednesday (7/24/2024).

The event, which was opened directly by UNP Rector, Krismadinata, Ph.D, was conducted to motivate young lecturers in UNP to pursue higher education.

Rector Kris in his speech said that young lecturers are the future golden generation of UNP so that their competence must continue to be improved.

“In line with LLDIKTI which requires that in 2025 lecturers have S3 or at least have registered as S3 students, then we encourage our young lecturers to continue their studies,” he explained.

On that occasion, the Rector also delivered a briefing on UNP’s vision to become a World Class University (WCU). According to him, to support the ideals of UNP to become WCU must be supported by qualified human resources so that UNP is now continuing to improve the quality of human resources at UNP.

The speakers who provided material at the event were, Senior Executive, Prof. Ganefri, Ph.D with material on Motivation for Further Study. Then Special Education Lecturer, Antoni Tsaputra, S.S, M.A, Ph.D shared about the experience of further study.

Then Dr. Tuti Rahmi, S.Psi, M.Si, Psychologist on tips for getting International Scholarships and finally Prof. Dr. Ir. Anni Faridah, M.Si delivered about lecturer career development.

In line with Rector Kris, Prof. Ganefri admitted that he strongly supports the main program of Rector Krismadinata who wants to focus on human resource development. 

“If you all have positioned yourself as a lecturer, as an educator in higher education, then to get to the career path you have achieved, you must continue your doctoral studies,” he added.

Also present at the event were Vice Rectors III and IV, Director of Human Resources, Head of Information Services Office of Public Relations and Protocol and a number of other officials in the UNP Environment. (utr / UNP Public Relations)
