BEM FMIPA UNP 2024 Women Empowerment Office Successfully Holds Talkshow Event About Women With The Theme Of True Beauty: Exploring Minangkabau Cultural Identity Through Sumbang 12 And Inner Beauty
Padang October 06, 2024 A talk show about women was held at the FMIPA UNP Hall. Talkshow About Women is a series of events raised by the Women’s Empowerment Office of BEM FMIPA KM UNP 2024 in collaboration with the Women’s Islamic Study Forum Al-Qalam (FORSIA) which is open to all women.
The theme raised at the Talkshow event about women is True Beauty: Exploring the Cultural Identity of Minangkabau Women Through Sumbang 12 and Inner Beauty.
In this inspiring talk show, FORSIA’s Women’s Empowerment and Women’s Affairs Office managed to highlight the extraordinary potential of women. The event presented inspiring speakers who shared their stories and experiences in contributing to society.
This activity aimed to provide a deep understanding of the meaning of Sumbang 12 as a representation of women’s contributions in various aspects of Minangkabau cultural life. In addition, the concept of Inner Beauty was also discussed in depth, emphasizing the importance of true beauty that comes from a positive heart and mind.
The event was officially opened by the Governor of BEM FMIPA KM UNP 2024, Muhammad Rizqi Foma. Talkshow Seputar Perempuan this time invited an extraordinary speaker, namely kak Fadhilah Chaniago as the first speaker with the theme Sumbang 12. Fadhilah Chaniago is a motivator, student trainer and speaker on radio and television.
Sumbang 12 was indeed born from the Minangkabau cultural heritage based on Islamic faith, but this sumbang 12 should apply to all women. If all women understand and apply this sumbang 12, then society will run in accordance with the order of society and the prevailing norms, said kak Fadhilah.
Minangkabau culture does apply the philosophy of Adat basandi Syara’, Syara’ basandi kitabullah This philosophy shows that customs and religion develop in harmony added kak Fadhilah.
The second speaker was Afifah Zhafirah with the theme Inner Beauty, Outer Glow. Afifah Zhafirah herself is one of the recipients of the PMDSU Batch IV scholarship and is the founder of KOMA (a platform for learning scientific writing, research, and innovation) Indonesia.
Physical beauty is indeed the first impression seen but physical beauty will actually fade over time. There is something more eternal than that, namely inner beauty, said Afifah.
The participants were very enthusiastic in listening to the speakers’ presentation and actively interacting in the question and answer session. We hope that through this talk show, we can dig deeper into the relevance of the values of sumbang 12 in modern life, and how we can build true inner beauty.
